Anne M. Morgan

Anne M. Morgan, 83, of Rotterdam, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, after a brief illness. Born on November 24, 1925 in Saratoga Springs, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Hogan Searls. Anne was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in Saratoga and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin. Anne worked for over 30 years with the New York State Department of Unemployment in Schenectady, until her retirement in 1981. After her retirement, she spent her winters in Florida until permanently moving to Holiday, Florida, in 1999. She moved back to the Schenectady area to live with her daughter in 2006. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Rotterdam and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Anne was an accomplished ballet dancer in her younger years, dancing for a short time with the New York City Ballet. She enjoyed reading, sewing, camping, traveling and spending time with her family. Besides her parents Anne was predeceased by a brother, William Searls; and her husband, Edward C. Morgan, whom she married on July 3, 1949. He passed on February 19, 1993. Survivors include her son, Keith (Deborah) I. Morgan of Rotterdam; her daughter, Michelle Y. Morgan of Schenectady; two sisters, Virginia Monet of Alexandria, VA; and her twin sister, Agnes Klanac of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Hunter Curtis Morgan and Ryan Jennings; and several nieces and nephews; including a special niece, Karen Donovan, and nephews, James and Matthew Klanac and William Monet. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Burial will follow at Memory's Garden, Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
