Catherine M. Lamp

Catherine M. Lamp, 86, passed away at Ellis Hospital on November 25, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born in Schenectady on March 28, 1930 to the late George and Sadie (Przekop) Calkins. Catherine attended St. Mary's School for her elementary years and went on to finish off her schooling at Nott Terrace High. On August 20, 1950 she married Raymond W. "Mick" Lamp Jr. at St. Mary's Church in Schenectady, NY, who survives her. She went on to work at Bellevue Hospital and the Army Depot in building 50. In 1951 she moved onto the toughest job of all raising six children. Catherine was a past member of St. Joseph's A.C., was the longtime President of St. Mary's Rosary Society, and served as Eucharistic Minister until its' closure. Home bureau, ceramics, and stained glass were her favorite pastimes. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald G. Calkins. Catherine is survived by her brother, Leonard G. Calkins; and three sisters-in-law. Also her six children, Pam Lamp of Glenville, Raymond E. Lamp (Marie) of Rotterdam, Richard W. Lamp of East Matunuck, RI, Debbie Shelton, of St. Albans, WV, Robert W. Lamp, (Mary) of Princetown, Brian K. Lamp of Alabaster, AL; eight grandchildren, Erika (Frank) Platt, Danielle Lamp, Adina (Evan) DeGeorgio, Sarah Lamp, Tyler, Dylan, Ryan and Madelyn Lamp; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment will be in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery Rotterdam. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home. The family would also like to extend thanks and appreciation for the care provided to Catherine while she was a resident of Union Station at Glendale Nursing Home.
