PHILOMENA BROWN Obituary

Philomena M. Brown, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010, at her home after a long illness. Born in Amsterdam October 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Palmieri DiCaprio. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1941. She moved to Miami, Florida years after her marriage and was employed as a secretary with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1979, after 31 years of service. She then moved to Houston, Texas to be with her immediate family, and was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She was united in marriage to John F. Brown on February 10, 1946. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by sisters, Anna DiCaprio and Mollie Simiele; brothers, Joseph, Ralph, and Arthur DiCaprio; also a granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh King of Houston. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Colleen Kelli (Joseph) Sampson of Houston, Texas; sisters, Lucy (Vincent) Constantino of Lakeland, Florida and Rita (Al) Cirillo of Liverpool, New York; one grandchild, Daniel Taylor King of Phoenix, Arizona; also nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 8:15 a.m. Wednesday from the DeSefano Funeral Home, Rte. 5-S followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. At Philomena's request there will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are requested to the American Lung Association, 755 Washington Avenue, Suite 210, Albany, New York 12210.
