THOMAS RUANE Obituary

Thomas F. Ruane passed away peacefully on May 31, 2011. Thomas was born in Scranton, PA, to John and Margaret Ruane. After his military service, he graduated from the University of Scranton and then earned a PhD. in nuclear physics from the University of Notre Dame. He spent his entire professional career employed by General Electric at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady, NY. Thomas is survived by his wife, Joan of Pawleys Island; daughters, Mary Ann (Richard) Gentile of Shelton, CT, Kathleen (John) Lontine of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Nicholas Gentile, Christopher Gentile, Thomas Lontine, Scott Lontine, Meagan Lontine; a brother, Bro. Joseph Ruane c.s.c.; sisters-in-law, Mary and Louise Kaffo. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church with Father Pat Stenson officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Tidelands Community Hospice, 8591 N. Frazier St., Georgetown, SC.
