After reading Adriennes entry this isn't so easy. In my life I simply considered Carlee another big brother who just lived with my other parents. I loved Carlee for many reasons but mostly for his great energy and huge love of laughter. I have so many incredible memories of Carlee, one is when we stayed at Machi's and Pachi's in Mexico, I was taking a shower and he came to the door and yelled "FIRE" and I ran out soaking wet. He was there laughing of course. Until Uncle Carlos ran upstairs and saw what happened. Another one was all of us dancing in the discoteque in Cancun together. We couldn't wait to dance with Carlee!! He and Stevie were the best dancers! So much more... Thanks Carlee for the unforgettable smile- you will never be forgotten because you are right here next to my father.

Serna family,
We are very saddened to hear of the death of Carlee. We remember how Carlee came to our house one Christmas Eve a long long time ago and put together one of the toys for our three daughters. He was a delight and very funny helping us. It has to be one of the worst things having your child die before you and our hearts go out to Donna and Carlos.
Our very best prayers and thoughts go out to the whole family.
Love,
Jaime and Nancy Jacobo

Oh Sandy...words just cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. I wish that I could be there to give you a great big hug. I only met Carl a couple of times but he seemed like a wonderful person and a perfect match for you. From reading all the entries here in this guest book, it becomes evident what a good man he was and that he was very loved. My heartfelt sympathy goes to you and your family. I have had you all in my thoughts & prayers since hearing of Carl's grave condition. I am so glad that you and Carl had your great faith to carry you through this difficult time. It's comforting to know that he is now in the loving arms of Jesus and suffering no more. May God bless you and your family richly from this time forward. Love to you and yours from out here in Oregon.

There were countless things my Uncle Carlee did to keep my cousins and I entertained when we were little. I can honestly remember the endless summers at my grandmas house in LaPorte like it was just yesterday. He used to jump on the trampoline with us catapulting us to such high heights and make huge waves in my grandmas pool that would almost engulf all the kids. My favorite memory, and I'm sure my whole family remembers this, was when he created scavanture hunts that involved "unique" clues which made the game a great adventure. I mention these events because it's what I think of most when I think of my uncle. He was just always full of life and always made everyone smile and laugh.
He was a great father, uncle, grandfather and an all around great man. He will always have a special place in my heart.

On behalf of the Latino Breakfast Club our deepest sympathies are extended to Carlos' family.
Carlos was a member of our board and though he was unable to attend our meetings due to his health, this did not stop him from communicating with us and wanting to know how the organization was growing.
Our board truly enjoyed our last time together with Carlos and Sandy at the end of January.
We look forward to seeing your family at the ABTA run/walk.
Our prayers are with your family.
God Bless

My thoughts and prayers are with Sandy and the entire Serna family at this most difficult time.
From our first acquaintance at Munster High School to the present, he had a keen sense of humor and wit that he shared with everyone. He was fun loving, athletic and had a kind and compassionate heart. I'll remember him always this way.
I know he is with God and Heaven is a better place with his presence.

My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Serna family. What a great loss for this wonderful family. I hope that your memories of Carlee will help to comfort you in the days and months ahead.
Some of my fondest memories from childhood were spent at the Serna's house. I can remember babysitting the Serna kids and we played tag and hide and go seek in the basement. We had so much fun and laughed a lot. I never wanted to go home. Carlee was always in a good mood and so much fun to be around. He will be missed.
Love,
Cindy

Dear Uncle Carlee,
I will always remember you for your unique sense of humor. As other loved ones have mentioned, I will always remember your Donald Duck voice. Your sense of humor made you who you are, and we will all miss it. I personally remember one day when we were all at grandma and Pachi's during the summer, you walked downstairs with a Halloween mask and scared us all! You will be missed, and will always hold a special place in my heart. I know you will be happy in Heaven, where you will once again be able to laugh and run.
Love,
Ben

Carlos and Donna and all your family, I send my deepest sympathy and love to all of you. I only met Carly a couple of times but he left a very good impression on me as a very fine young man and very friendly. I know he will be greatly missed but speaking from experience--Keep happy thoughts of him and all your good times together. That and your family will help you through the bad times. With sympathy, Goldie Carlson

Fond memory alert: One of my favorite memories back in the late 1970's with my brother, Carlee, was arranging 2 cars loaded with teenagers, friends and cousins, and heading up to Alpine Valley, Wisconsin to see Fleetwood Mac perform.
We stopped on a picturesque country roadside, on a farmer's front lawn, for a late afternoon lunch with a few buckets of chicken from the colonel; kfc. That evening was perfect. It was a great memory and a perfect day.
I'm going to miss you. I will love you always.

My Uncle Carlee was a good man. I can still remember times where he helped me cheat at poker. He achieved much and lived life to the fullest. The last words he said to me were "I love you Miranda" on my birthday. He had called from his hospital room, and was talking in his Donald Duck voice that I had always loved. That phone call meant and stilll means so much to me. I will never forget my Uncle Carlee.

I want to express my sincerest condolences to Sandy and all of Carl's family. Carl and I were very close childhood friends from third grade through high school. I remember vividly his genuine smile, and how you could always count on him to lighten up a serious situation. He was part of my own history, and I will miss him. I hope fond memories of him will bring comfort to all who were blessed to know him.

Carlee, we all love you more than words can express and to not have you here with us is a pain that will never be relieved. You were so special in so many ways that I would need volumes to be fully able to express how you impacted all of our lives. Big brother, rest in peace and run like the wind.
All our love,
Adrienne, Jeff, Garrison, Miranda and Griffin Kalman
