Chester Edward Bucknell Jr. and Lula J. Bucknell

Chester E. Bucknell Jr. Lula J. Bucknell Memorial services for Chester Edward "Chet" Bucknell Jr. and Lula Josephine "Lou" Bucknell of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Ojai, Calif., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 E. Algonquin Road, South Barrington. Chester was born April 27, 1926, in Eau Claire, Wis., and died Dec. 23, 2002. Lula was born June 23, 1929, in Elmhurst and died Jan. 31, 2003. They were interred in Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Cemetery, Bakersfield. Formerly an assistant pro at Medinah Country Club, Chet and Lou had moved to Ojai, where he became a pro for the Ojai Valley Inn. They later retired to Bakersfield. They both enjoyed travel, golf and country music. Survivors include their children, Alan (Elaine) Bucknell of Bakersfield and Scott (Carmen) Bucknell of Ventura, Calif.; and grandchildren, Tanya (Steven) Thomas, Lisa, Nickey and Bryon Bucknell, all of Bakersfield; great-grandchildren, Austin, Alan and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews. Lou is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Josephine (Frank) Jacobs of Val Rico, Fla., Helen Rood of Arlington Heights, Shirley (Ed) Brztowski of Palatine, Darlene Rood of Wood Dale, Harold Rood of Schaumburg, Victor Rood of Wood Dale, Frank Rood of Schaumburg, Roy Rood of Wood Dale, Vinson (Alyce) Rood of Johnston City, Ill., Ted (Sandy) Rood of Elgin and Douglas (Mai) Rood of Richland, Wash. Chet was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Sr. and Pauline Bucknell; and sister, Gloria Deshanon. Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mary (nee Hottinger) Rood; and her sister Katherine Rood. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
