DANIEL WIEDMAN Obituary

Daniel W. Wiedman, Feb. 26, 1941 - Jan. 28, 2017, passed away peacefully in his home in Novato, California. Dan is survived by his wife of 48 years Emily, daughter Wendy, granddaughter Shea, brothers John and James (Rita), and an extended loving family. Raised in Dundee, Illinois, Dan graduated from Dundee High School in 1959. Dan served during the Vietnam War in Heidelberg, Germany. Dan earned his Civil Engineering degree at UC Berkeley in 1969, graduating with honors and went on to attend law school at UC Davis earning his JD degree in 1972. The two degrees were an excellent combination for his professional career of 31 years as an attorney for Caltrans. Dan retired from Caltrans in 2004 to travel with his wife and send postcards. We miss our beloved Dan.

Dan was a good man. Though my husband Terry and me lost contact with Emily and Dan over the last few years , he and Emily were in our Hearts and minds.
Dan did so much for me when I was younger, I could never thank him enough. He will be missed greatly. Our Thoughts and prayers go out to Emily and Wendy.

I was saddened to learn of Dan's death. We had been out of the country and my brother shared the news with me yesterday. Dan was a great friend. We had many good times in high school and he visited me while I was teaching in Marseilles. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I wasn't able to visit my Uncle Dan in the last 10+ years. I felt like we were still in contact through his postcards, "rhymes" and other meaningful items sent in the mail, many forwarded from my Dad Jim. He once sent me a box of lead fishing sinkers in a flat rate box just because he could, I still have them. We had memorable times I often recollect. He sure was an interesting and special man, Uncle, father and grandfather. He will be loved and missed by us.
