JACK Brynildssen Obituary

PALATINE - Jack Peter Brynildssen, 75, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at home after a long battle with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). Jack was born May 25, 1941 in Evanston, IL. He was a member of Medinah Temple and studied at St. Olaf College and Lawrence College before joining the U.S. Navy. He attended Nuclear Power School and served six years aboard the submarines, U.S.S. Trutta, Thomas Jefferson and U.S.S. Sunfish. Jack married his wife Jolinda (nee Anderson) on July 7, 1964. Retiring from the Navy, he worked for ComEd in nuclear engineering. Jack was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church as well as the Palatine Kiwanis Club where he served as Spiritual Director. Although he loved travelling and cycling across the world with Jolinda, his favorite pastime was driving his Shelby Mustang GT 500, in which he recently completed a racing school at the MidOhio Sports Car Course. He is survived by Jolinda, his wife of over 52 years, as well as his children, son Yngvar II (Kristine Mosier), daughter Lara Joy, grandson Yngvar Brynildssen III (Var), many nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his father Yngvar, mother Alletta and sister Joy M. Draper. A visitation will be held at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be a celebration of Jack's life at Christ Lutheran Church, 41 S. Dear Jolinda and family,
It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Jack. I know what you are going through as I lost my beloved Joan on Valentine's Day in 2015.
I hope your life with Jack was filled with the kind of love and happiness that Joan and I enjoyed. The memories, while so sad, are also so sweet. I am so grateful to have shared so many years with here. I hope the same for you and Jack.

Our condolences go out to your entire family. Jack and Jim worked together for five years at Commonwealth Edison's nuclear engineering department. Jack was always professional, and his keen insights from his time in the Navy were always appreciated. Many years later we were reunited became our wives worked at the same school district.
Please accept our deepest sympathy in your loss.

My sympathy to Jo, Yngvar, Kris, Lara and Var as well as extended family and friends, including me. I first met Jack when he and Jo moved to Pepper Tree Farms in Palatine in 1969. We were young marrieds with babies in a new subdivision in our new home town. Some of my favorite memories are Jack on the bongo board, summer nights on their deck, and Jack's ability to cut. a sheet cake in exactly the same size pieces. RIP dear friend.
