ROBERT H. CHAPPELL

Robert H. Chappell, age 90, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois for 62 years passed away September 19, 2021. Beloved husband of 64 years to Catherine Chappell (nee Nixon). Loving father of Keith (Connie) and Glenn (Heather) Chappell. Proud grandfather of Andrew Chappell, Kassondra (Anh) Nguyen, Michael (Amanda) Chappell, Madelynne Chappell, and Matthew Chappell, and great-grandfather of Zoe, Liam and baby Nguyen, Annalynne and Arleigh Chappell. Dear brother of the late Edward and the late Margaret. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Robert was born December 23, 1930 to the late Edward and the late Gertrude Chappell (nee Tobiason). He graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Soon after, he joined the Navy reserves. Robert was very active in his life. One of his hobbies was woodworking. He was very handy and his family cherishes the many things he built. Robert also enjoyed camping and square dancing. He will be remembered as a generous, caring man, a loving husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. Visitation on Monday, September 27, 2021 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church UCC, 1492 Henry Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016.
