Tom Bednarke Obituary

Tom J. Bednarke of Elgin Visitation for Tom J Bednarke, 71, formerly of Schaumburg, will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road), Bartlett. A viewing will take place from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass Wednesday, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Drive, Elgin. Born July 25, 1937, in Chicago, he passed away Friday, May 22, 2009, at Claire Oaks Nursing Home, with his family by his side. Tom was a salesman for A-1 Air Compressor for 24 years. He was an umpire for SAA and enjoyed teaching others about the rules of the game. He also enjoyed bowling, playing accordion, playing cards and spending time with his family. Tom was an honest and boisterous man. Everyone that knew him, knew where they stood, good or bad, happy or sad, his opinion was hard set and that was that. He is survived by his outgoing and friendly wife of 45 years, Shirley; his daughter, Lisa (Pryor) and Rick; sons, TJ and Sheila, Scott and Karen; and grandchildren, Katie, Zack, Duke, Sam, Sydney, Brooke, Paige and Chayse. To Mrs. B, Lisa, Scott, TJ, and the entire Bednarke family,

My deepest sympathies to you all. Mr. B was an honorable man that cherished his family and friends. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Mr. B,

I am grateful. You taught me respect, responsibility, and the value of a strong work ethic. I mean, the list of chores I had to help TJ with...who couldn't gain a strong work ethic:). Or, at the police station when you told us to never again take the convertible out for another spin until we got our driver's license...totally respected that "request". Humor aside, there are people that one credits to have made a positive impact on their life...Mr. B...I consider you one of those great people. Because, in fact, those chores, your comments, your opinions, and all other memories I have, has positively impacted me. Those three pillars of character: respect, responsibility, and work ethic, I thank you. May you rest in peace.

Dad,

You will be truly missed. Your humor, love, smile and quick wit has made me what I am today. I will NEVER forget you. WE may have had our ups and downs, but the ups were "up" there and truly outweigh the bad. I love you. Always have. Always will.

We miss you!

All my love and kisses, too,

Lisa
