Donald Oneal Johnson, Sr.

1943 - 2022

A Celebration Remembering the Life of Donald Oneal Johnson, Sr., of Richmond, Virginia, formerly of Lincoln, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Holy Hill Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Bishop Michael Truss officiating. Interment with commence immediately following the services in Pine Grove Church Cemetery. There will be a public viewing for Mr. Johnson from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Mr. Donald Oneal Johnson, Sr., was born on February 21, 1943, to the late Donald Johnson and the late Eula C. Orr Collins in Lincoln, Alabama. Donald accepted Christ at a young age and united with Holy Hill Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He received his formal education in the Talladega County School System attending Lincoln Elementary School and graduating from Talladega County Training School known today as Talladega County Central High School. After completing high school and starting a family with Mrs. Linna Johnson, Donald and his family migrated to New York for better job opportunities. After working several years with the City of New York, Donald relocated to Richmond, Virginia where he worked Security for the City of Richmond School System until retiring. While in Richmond, Donald continued serving the Lord and attended Greater Hope Baptist Church. Donald., known as "Bonnie" to his family and friends, was an avid fisherman who loved fishing. After retiring, Donald enjoyed watching game shows, if any types of green were on the menu, Donald made sure he had his serving of them. He loved greens! On Sunday, June 5, 2022, Donald Oneal Johnson peacefully transitioned from this 79-year walk of life to his eternal home joining his parents, Donald Johnson and Eula C. Orr Collins, daughter, Rosland Johnson and brothers, Abbie Johnson, Rickey Lee Collins and Mickey Collins. Cherishing his memories are his son, Donald (Tanza) Johnson, Jr.; daughters, Angela (Thomas) Blackwell, Samantha Johnson, and Allene Flores; twelve grandchildren, Thomas Blackwell, Donnell Johnson, Donte Johnson, Donovan Johnson, Marquell Johnson, Dondre Johnson, Donasia Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Nathaniel Blair, Dontavius Johnson, Jerrell Blair and Tavien Blackwell; and a host great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
