Montrell Dontae "Pie" Johnson

A Homegoing Celebration Remembering the Life of Montrell Dontae "PIE" Johnson, 22, of Talladega, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Kelley Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor L.L. Jacobs officiating. Interment will commence immediately following the service at Pine Hill Memorial Park. There will be a public viewing for Mr. Johnson on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Montrell Dontae Johnson, the beloved child of Felicia Johnson and Nakia Swain, was born on May 19, 2000, in Talladega, Alabama. He was endeared and affectionately known as "PIE" to friends and family. He received his formal education in the Talladega City School System where he attended Talladega High School and later graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 2018, where he was an outstanding football player and earned a college scholarship. Pie was an avid player of sports, and a talented athlete that excelled in basketball, football, and baseball. After graduation he enrolled in Union State College in Barbourville, KY where he was featured as a running back and a slotback on the Union Bulldogs football team. Pie worked at Kasai North America and was currently employed at Talladega College. Pie was helpful, attentive, involved, and a beacon of light to those who knew him, with an outgoing personality and a brilliant smile. He was a devoted and doting father to his young son, Koiree Montrell Johnson. Not only did he loved his son, but Pie also enjoyed spending time with his family and friend watching sports, especially the "Alabama Roll Tide"! In his spare time, he was pursuing his barber talent. On March 19, 2023, long before he had truly reached his full potential, Montrell Dontae Johnson passed away at Brookwood Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Alabama. Montrell's memory will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those he leaves to mourn: his only son, Koiree Montrell Johnson of Talladega; loving parents Felicia Johnson and Nakia (NaKeshia) Swain, both of Talladega; devoted sisters, Jamonica Johnson of Talladega, Taylor (Mathew) Walker of Huntsville, and Mykia Swain of Talladega; loyal brothers, Trevor Johnson, Kharee (Amanda) Barclay, Jakevia Barclay, Rakeem Garner, and Neiko Armani Carter all of Talladega; doting grandparents, Clodeen Johnson and Diane (Tony) McElderry both of Talladega; supportive aunts, Luverne (Edward) Wade of Pell City, Shawanda (Terry) Millender of Killeen, TX, Mary Jane White, Charlene Woodgett, Shericka Swain, and Tonya Dickerson all of Talladega; steadfast uncles, Leondric Johnson, Terrence Johnson, George Woodgett, and Charlie Woodgett all of Talladega, Don (April) Swain of Huntsville, AL, Tavares Woodgett and Tellus Swain both of Talladega; and loving fiancée, Miracle Carter of Talladega.
