Paul Kane Obituary

Funeral service for Paul Herbert Kane, 76, will be held Thursday, July 25th at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery off of HWY 280 in Sylacauga, AL. Mr. Kane died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Gallman) Kane, 2 brothers, Cecil Hal Kane and Hugh Coleman Kane. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy after serving our country 24 years. In addition he retired from the United States Postal Service, serving the Sylacauga community. He is the recipient of - National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal Fifth Award, and Expert Pistol Shot Medal. He is survived by his daughters, Paula Newton, husband Gary of Odenville; Angela Moore, husband Tim of Alexander City; sons, Paul Grant Kane, wife Ann of Kellyton and David Michael Kane, wife Emory of Hollins; one sister, Georgia Elizabeth (Kane) Hayes of Austin, Texas; one brother, Harold Wayne Kane, wife Karen of Syracuse, KS; grandsons, Michael Newton of Pell City, Matthew Newton and Martin Newton, (serving as US Marines) from Odenville, Paul Adam Kane, Todd Kane, Alex Kane, Christopher Kane, and Dakota Kane all of Sylacauga; granddaughters, April Kane of Sylacauga, Stephanie Donnelley of Tampa, Jennifer Moore and Destiny Moore of Alexander City, Melissa Bullock of Mobile and Marilyn Newton of Odenville and 8 great-grandchildren. Paul is the son of Herbert Paul Kane, a real cowboy from Texas, and Georgia Elizabeth (Witcher) Kane and the great-grandson of Hugh Herbert Kane and Grover Alberta "Bert" (Young) Kane and the great-great-grandson of John R. Kane and Mary Emily (Prestridge) Kane. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Instead of flowers the Family asks that donations be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) at www.dav.org/donate Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
