Rebecca Lelar Obituary

Rebecca Lelar of Mount Airy, Pa. Rebecca Lelar, 32, peacefully passed away unexpectedly at her home on July 1, 2012. Rebecca was a 1998 high school graduate from Springfield Township. She studied music at Immaculata University; achieved certification for licensed practical nursing through the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology in 2002; and was awarded a registered nursing license upon completion at Delaware County Community College in 2008. Rebecca adored her career in nursing and found her new passion serving the homeless population through the mission of Philadelphia's Pathways to Housing program. She dedicated her life to making change in Philadelphia's homeless population by providing case management services, administering medical care, facilitating treatment for the mentally ill and above all, treating her consumers with respect and dignity. Rebecca had much appreciation for music, literature and history, with a special interest in the Civil War. She enjoyed traveling, and spent her annual vacations with the friends she considered family. Rebecca loved singing, laughing, cooking, and playing with her dogs. Her daily focus was to find peace and balance within her life and the world. She is survived by her parents, Judy and Dale Lelar, as well as her aunt Sara Eva "Sally". Services will be held on Monday, July 9th at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, 107 South 17th Avenue, Coatesville. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral directly following. Rebecca also spent time working at Camilla Hall where donations may be made in her name: Camilla Hall, 1145 West King Road Malvern, PA 19355. Arrangements by Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, Coatesville.

I was so sad to hear of Rebecca's passing. It is just another reminder that those who are selfless and good are taken too soon from this world. Our class will honor your memory Rebecca and your good work.

Rebecca,

When I think of you, I see your crystal green eyes, those long dainty fingers and nails, your infectious smile and I even think of your beautiful penmanship. Every note (even the ones passed during class) was a work of art.

You have taught me so many things. You have gifted me with so many good times...

From teaching me to drive, to helping me with all things historical (and me actually doing well in History class) while I helped you with all things mathematical, to singing every duet possible together, to cutting our hair super short together, to bleaching our hair super blonde together, to laughing until we cried and smacked each other around, to all of our philosophical and nonsensical talks, to introducing me to Immaculata and Dolores (you just knew I would love it there), to...You knew me so well.

You were absolutely the best friend anyone could have. Thank You.

I feel so lucky; so incredibly blessed for being your best friend during our "impressionable high school days".

I love you xoxo

I only knew Rebecca for a short time, but I will miss her dearly. She was a great friend to everyone who knew her and was so dedicated to her work. We all have a guardian angel watching over us now. My prayers are with her family and friends.
