My wife Kathy and I were very sorry to hear of Sam's passing. All of us who worked with Sam at The Franklin Mint will remember him as a great friend and a talented writer. Most of all, though, we remember him for his speed and stamina as a runner. He helped organize a jogging group and led lunchtime runs with us. He started slow but soon left the rest of us trailing behind well out of breath. He ran the Boston Marathon regularly and is famous for burying a Coke along the route so he could take a break and refresh himself. Those of us who tried to keep up with him will never forget his friendly spirit and engaging sense of humor.
