Carolyn Mason Taylor

SMITHFIELD - Carolyn Mason Taylor, 59, of the 19000 block of Beechwood Lane, Smithfield, died on April 27, 2003, in her residence. A native of Portsmouth, Va., she was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church and co-founder of the Collage Art Gallery in Smithfield. She is survived by her husband, Byron R. Taylor Jr.; one daughter, Sheria T. Pidgeon of Chesapeake, Va.; one son, Richard Taylor of Smithfield, Va.; two sisters, Erma Louise Little of Farmville, Va., and Barbara Vick of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, George F. Mason Jr. of Suffolk, Va.; three grandchildren, Chelsea Leigh Pidgeon, Lindsay Marie and Matthew Allen Taylor. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Lee Hess. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International.
