Barbara and Family

Ethel and I kept in touch at least once a year around Christmas time. In December 2003, I sent my traditional card and note but did not get one from her until last month. I looked at the postmark date of December 24, 2003, and wondered why it took so long to get to Texas. I placed it on my desk to write her...to let her know about this lost Christmas card. I shared this story and my plans to write Ethel with my sister, Eileen, on 3/12. She told me that Ethel passed. My sister in Christ, my sorority sister, my childhood friend, I will miss you and will keep this card always. Barbara, know that you and your family are in my prayers. I grieve with you and will cherish her memory forever.

Dearest Family,

It is with heartfelt sympathy that my family and me extend to you our expressions of love and riches blessings on the loss of your loved-one, and my fellow classmate of G.W. Carver High School Class of '61. Our hearts are heavy, but we are too sharing in God's jubilant praise in yet another soldier who has gone home to receive her reward.

Ethel was a sweet and sincere woman of conviction and a servant of God. Lord knows she worked tirelessly on the battlefield even when her earthly temple became too cumbersome to trod.

We pray that the legacy of humility and unselfishness that Ethel instilled in others will continue to linger on in the lives she touched as a beautiful Child of the King.

Rest on my dear colleague and Sister-in-Christ, for we know the many seeds you sowed has infected all of our loved-ones in a profound way, and we too, shall see you again in God's glorious Kingdom.

~~With love and sincerest sympathy: Melissa, Antonio, Alnita, Colon III, Arlissa Brinkley-Patterson, and Wilhelminia J. Brinkley, and family~~

Ms. Brunson was an inspiration to many people young and old. We were all encouraged in seeing her continue to press forward with her work in education (in spite of). She has now moved on to a higher calling and we shall cherish her memorie and strive to do the best we can, while we can and be in God's will. Be encouraged loved ones, death of the Lord's saints is precious. Ethel had a relationship with the Lord and now she is free from the mundane trials of this world. For, she is absent from the body but at home with the Lord. May God bless each of you.

It is with profound saddness that I pen this note of sympathy. Ms. Brunson was an outstanding local Christian Educator in Greater Walters A. M. E. Zion Church. May the grace of God and his loving mercy provide comfort to the family and her friends during this time of bereavement.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the family during these hours of bereavement. I can remember, during the late 1950's and early 1960's, a many smiling faces that once stood in the Junior Choir at both Walters Temple and Greater Walters Temple. A many of these faces has passed on, including members of my immediate family. Now Ethel has joined that group - "Heavenly Bound". Someday - "We all must pass this way". God Bless and this "Family" will be in our daily prayers.

I am a former student of Mrs. Ethel D. Brunson. She was a great inspiration to me as she was my homebound teacher when I was a student at Warwick High School. She also carried a great deal in my daughters life while they attended Vacation Bible School in the summer time. She would always give me good advise and tell me she always love me.She is a true angle and God has called on of his best home. To the family and close friends keep her in your prayers and memories and always remember she was a great friend, mentor, sister, aunt, etc. to all of us most of all, me. I love you and will miss you alot. Thank you for all you have done.
