Richard H. Walczak

Richard H. Walczak died on September 4, 2021, in Hampton. Born March 11, 1944, in Detroit, MI to the late Henry and Frances (Kaczmarek) Walczak, he was a graduate of St. Andrew HS and joined the US Navy shortly after graduation. Richard retired in August 1989 after 27 years of honorable service and settled in Hampton, VA. He worked for Alpine Life Sports; RMS Technology and Computer Science Corporation before fully retiring in 2006.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Doris Franklin Woolard Walczak and his stepson, Stephen R. Woolard. He is survived by his sister, Carol Les (Kenneth) of Sterling Heights, MI; daughters, Frances Bethea of Norfolk and Lisa Ripley of Richmond; five grandchildren; and stepsons, Wayne Woolard (Carol) of Rio Rancho, NM and Randy Woolard of Williamsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Church, Hampton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 10 – 11 AM. Inurnment will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk at a later date.
