Richard Ware Obituary

YORKTOWN - Richard Paul Ware, Jr., 68, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Paul was born and lived in Dandy prior to moving to Cape Charles in 2000. He was a member of Cape Charles Baptist Church and retired in 1995 as a pipefitter from C.E. Thurston. He loved working in the yard, swimming in the Chesapeake Bay, but most of all he loved being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary "Kay" Ware; his mother, Delma Erdman of Dandy; two daughters, Paula Chambers and her husband Richard Chambers of Yorktown and Sharon Burkhard and her husband Larry of Cape Charles; granddaughter, Kelsie Burkhard and a grandson Noah Burkhard both of Cape Charles; a sister Sandra Morgan and her husband Jerry of Dandy; his very special sister-in-law, Joanne Miller of Seaford; and several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his fathers Richard Paul Ware, Sr., and John Erdman. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 11, 2013, in Amory Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Russell Goodrich. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of ICU at Riverside Hospital for their care and compassion given to Paul. Memorials may be made to the Cape Charles Baptist Church 509 Randolph Ave., Cape Charles, VA. 23310.

I only knew Paul from his TOPS work and talking to him at SRD. He was always unfailingly kind, caring and helpful to everyone. He will be missed.

Uncle Paul was a great uncle and friend. His love for his family could never be measured. I have such wonderful memories of him. One thing special about Uncle Paul is that he always wore his heart on his sleeve, that kind of tenderness is so hard to find these days. He was always so willing to help you in any way he could. He was also very funny and witty, always cutting up. He would keep you laughing. I just wish I had told him that I loved him, but I'm sure he knew. You will be missed so much and thought of so often.

To Paul's family:
At age 79, I have met many people in all walks of life. Some who I have never seen again, and never gave it a second thought.
I met Paul when I bought, and moved into our beach house in Cape Charles nearly seven years ago. Our back yards are across the ally from each other.
I marveled at the garden he planted and tended behind the fence just shy of the allyway. What beautiful produce helped along it's journey by one of the nicest people I have ever met. Each visit to Cape Charles had me checking on his "mini farm", and looking forward to a nice chat over the fence. Paul never failed to offer to share his "crop", or lend a helping hand.
I liked Paul. He was a real, honest, gentleman whose short but important friendship I shall always cherish.
My deepest sympathy to you all, we share in your loss.

Paul was a great help to me when I first joined TOPS in 2003. He was our area captain and he always came up with great ideas and programs that helped up keep us on track. His Fall Rallies were well attended and so much fun. He touched so many of our TOPS friends lives and everyone remembers him with great fondness. He really made a difference by giving of himself. He was always willing to help you in any way he could. He really wanted everyone to loose weight and get healthy. To his dear Family I extend my deepest sympathy.

Kay - I do not even know what to say... I was SO saddened to read this morning of Paul's passing. I absolutely loved him and so enjoyed the time we all spent together.
