Robert Ellis Obituary

LAKE CITY, FLA. - Robert L. Ellis Jr., 66, of Lake City, Fla., has gone home to be with the Lord on Aug. 13, 2004, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Born Aug. 21, 1937, he was a lifelong resident of Newport News, Va. He attended Newport News High School and graduated from Pipefitters Apprentice School. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #540 for 43 years. After retirement, he moved to Lake City, Fla. He was an avid saltwater fisherman. Preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Ellis Sr., he leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 17 years, Joyce Burkhart Ellis, and his mother, Elsie S. Ellis of Newport News, Va., brothers, Charles and (Kimberly) Ellis of Richland, Ind., Douglas and (Victoria) Ellis of Chester, Va., and Roy T. Ellis of Newport News, Va., sister, Olivia and (Bobby) Smith of Newport News, Va. Also survived by his three children, Paul Ellis, Kellie Ellis and Jeffery Ellis, two stepchildren, Christina Calebaugh and Billy Corbett, six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. The family is planning a memorial service in Newport News, Va., at a later date.
