Bernard O. Bishop, 88, Charlottesville passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.Bernard was born September 18, 1926, in Charlottesville to the late Bernard O. and Marguerite Bishop. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Dudley; and a brother, Howard Bishop.Bernard attended Lane High School before joining the U.S Army in 1944, where he served in communications as a T-5. After leaving the Army, he worked for Virginia Telephone and Telegraph, and Centel of Virginia, and retired with forty years of service.He was married to the former Anne Giannini for 65 years and leaves two sons, Gary Bishop and wife Beth of Charlottesville and Kevin Bishop and Vicky Gentry.He was a member of First Christian Church for a number of years.A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Hill and Wood Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Tyree officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at Hill and Wood Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hillandwood.com.
