Gayle Kloepfer Obituary

Gayle E. Kloepfer

AGE: 62 • Lake Telemark

Gayle E. Kloepfer, 62, died at her home in Lake Telemark, Rockaway, NJ on Wed. Dec. 26, 2012. Gayle was born in Morristown and grew up in the Cedar Lake section of Denville before moving to Lake Telemark in 2006. She graduated from Morris Knolls High School in Denville and later graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Learning. She started her teaching at Sarah Ward Nursery Schools in Newark and she has been their Executive Director. The children of the Sarah Ward Schools were Gayle's life and she loved them as if they were her own. Gayle was very independent, however very giving. Her thoughts were always for others and she made sure all were taken care of before herself. She loved gardening, sun worshiping and wishing on a star. She enjoyed reading, needle point and knitting, loved listening to Jazz and Blues, enjoyed art and she enjoyed a good beer, a cigar and most of all she loved the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

She is survived by her sister and her husband Meredith and Gary Petrillo, her niece and her husband Korinne and Brian Klug and their son Corben as well as her nephew Nick Petrillo all of Denville as well as her nephew Vinson Petrillo and his fiancée Jessica Nogay of New York City.

All services are private and being handled by Norman Dean Home for Services, Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com. Please share a memory of Gayle by lighting a candle on our web site. Donations are being accepted to Sarah Ward Nursery School, 27 Jay St., Newark, NJ 07103.

To Gayle's family please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. Gayle was a dedicated advocate for all children, families and early childhood professionals in NJ. Gayle was and will continue to positively influence the lives of people who care for and about children. She left a footprint that many did and will continue to follow.

To Gayles family and friends, I'm so sorry for such a loss. While I didn't know Gayle myself, never met her, my dad Mort worked with doing chores and painting and always spoke very fondly of her. Said she pushed for the best and was so good at her job. Again, very sorry to have lost such a wonderful person. Eileen Mascari

Miss Gayle... A wonderful woman who will be missed terribly. Her love of children was evident from the first moment we spoke. She calmed me and addressed my concerns, no matter how minor. My husband and I adored her and are truly grateful for her presence in our children's lives. You've earned your rest Miss Gayle. Sleep peacefully.

My deepest sympathy to family and friends. Gayle was an inspiration to me as we worked on child advocacy concerns in NJ. She was committed to the excellence of the child care program she led and to ensuring that the state did what was right for kids. She stood proud in her convictions. I knew her as a warm and sensitive person who motivated people to do good work for children. She will be sadly missed, but her legacy will live on for many years to come. I am proud to have been touched by her life!
