Dr. Ivan G. Chasalow died peacefully on May 10, 2017. The funeral is at 1:30 pm on Saturday, May 13, at the chapel at Cedar Crest Retirement Community, 1 Cedar Crest Dr, Pompton Plains. Born in Brooklyn, NY and a long-time resident of Whippany, NJ, Ivan worked for decades at Bell Labs, with a specialty in underwater sound, and served on the Hanover Township Board of Education for 16 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol. Ivan was the beloved father of Eric (Barbara Cassidy), Lewis (Loren), Wendy Milstein (Jerry), Suzanne (Edward Bachmann), Scott (Margret van Vuuren), and Lee (Carolyn); grandfather of 13, Simon, Elizabeth Jarvela, Brian, Jason Milstein, Rebecca Shoyer (Brad), Arielle Milstein, Ilan and Shira Chasalow Bachmann, Kyla, Nadia, Samantha, Brooke, and Skyler; great-grandfather of 5, Peter, Daphne, Lily, Violet, and Ivy. Donations in Ivan's memory can be made to the Cedar Crest Scholars' Fund. Checks may be addressed to Cedar Crest, with the memo: Scholars' Fund, Memory of Ivan Chasalow.
