AGE: 92 • Dover
Dover: Jose Martinez passed away at his home with his family at his bedside on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. He was 92 years of age.
Jose was born in Hoznayo, Spain and came to the US in 1952, settling in Dover.
Mr. Martinez was a Longshoreman for 40 years retiring in 1987.
Jose attended St. Simon of Rockaway. He loved to spend his time making his grounds around his home beautiful. He especially loved his vegetable garden.
Predeceased by his son Joseph in 1995.
Survived by his wife Maria of 66 years. Daughter: Yolanda Garcia and husband Gregorio of Rockaway. Six grandchildren: Michael Martinez, Gregory Garcia and wife Alison, Christian Garcia and wife Jamie, Jason Martinez, Tina DiGiacomo and husband Frank, Stephen Garcia and fiancée Kaitlyn. Five Great Grandchildren: Ashley, Olivia, Mason, Emme & Madden. Also survived by many Nieces, Nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A funeral mass will be held 9:30am on Saturday at St. Simon the Apostle Church, 1010 Green Pond Rd, Newfoundland, NJ 07435. Entombment will follow at Locust Hill Mausoleum, Dover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jose's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated. Offer condolences at www.BerminghamFH.com
