Barbara Levy

1936 - 2015

LEVY, Barbara Berry Age 79, passed away on September 25, 2015. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Jack and Rebecca Berry, and preceded in death by her parents, brother Henry Berry, and husband Jack. Known to all as "Baba," She grew up in Tyler, Texas, and attended John Tyler High. While active member in Alpha Epsilon Phi at the University of Texas at Austin, Barbara met the love of her life, Jack Levy, whom she married in 1956. Together they eventually moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived for over 50 years. She was a life long member of Temple Emanuel, Sisterhood, Book Club, and an avid cook, traveler, bridge and mahjong player. Her home was always the center of her love and happiness. Her endless gatherings and parties paid testament to her effusive, effervescent and truly loving character, especially towards her six beautiful grandchildren and beloved dog, Truman. Baba is survived by her four children: Leslie Levy Dryzer, Lauran Levy Goldberg and husban Robert; Jack M. Levy Jr., and Dr. Jay Berry Levy and wife Dr. Kathryn Dodson Levy; and grandchildren Benjamin Tyler Goldberg, Matthew Levy, Henry Goldberg, Alex Levy, Sadye Dryzer, and Sarah Dryzer. The family would like to give a special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Lucy, Sophia, Funmi, Jostina and Darby. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27th at 4:30 PM in the sanctuary at Temple Emanu-El, Northwest Highway and Hillcrest.
