Chester SMILEY

1921 - 2018

SMILEY, Chester George 97, of Dayton, passed away on June 26, 2018 and joined his one, true love, Jeanne (Dee) and 3 of his children, Chester Jr., Patricia, and Michael. He was born on April 9, 1921 to Claude I and Agnes Smiley in Dayton, OH. Chester retired as a Spot Welder for NCR after 30 years. On April 19, 1947, he married Jeanne (Dee) and they made Dayton their home and were married for 55 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Angels. Chester is survived by his loving Children, Patrick (Leann) Smiley, Charion (John) Grove, Jeannine Smiley, Timothy (Becky Hartman) Smiley, and Lori (James) McClay; 2 Grandchildren, Erin Wright and Sean Grove; 3 Great Grandchildren, Riley, Kaiia, and Kaleb; numerous Nieces, Nephews, Brother-in-laws, and Sister-in-laws. In addition to his parents, Claude I and Agnes, he was preceded in death by all of his Siblings. Visitation will be held Monday, July 2 from 5 to 8 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Kettering. Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 3, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church (310 Allen St, Dayton, OH 45410). Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
