News Death Notice

SMITH, Mrs. Dora Lee Age 78, of Trotwood, Ohio, departed this life November 18, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born April 12, 1936 in Mullins, SC and reared by her grandparents, the late Sam and Lula Graham. She left Mullins after graduating high school in 1956 to reside in Dayton. Dora worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired from the Dayton VA in 1996. The beloved matriarch of her family, she was kind, caring, faithful and devoted to God and her family. She was a faithful member of Residence Park UMC at Higher Ground. Preceded in death by her mother, Inez Graham Thompson; brothers, Theodore, Wallace, Walter, Samuel and Adolph Thompson; sister, Perlitha Thompson; step-son, Donald J. Smith Jr.; step-grandson, Marcus Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Donald J. Smith Sr.; sister, Wilhelmenia (Archie) Whatley; sons, Malcolm (Tina) and Douglas Oglesby, Albert David Black; step-sons, Rev. James B. II (Stephanie), Gregory, Ricky and Kendrick Smith; step-daughters, Lydia M. Martin, Debra A. Shands; aunt, Rosie Davis; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Residence Park UMC at Higher Ground, 4800 N. Dixie Dr. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation from 10 am-1 pm. Family will receive friends from 12-1 pm. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Condolences may be expressed at [email protected]
