ADKINS, Jimmy Dean Of Fairborn, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 at home surrounded by all of his family after a long illness. He was born in Dwarf, Kentucky on June 2, 1945. He is preceded in death by his father, John Grigsby, Jr, son, Jimmy Dean Adkins, II, granddaughter, Sarah Adkins and nephew Greg Combs. Jimmy Dean is survived by his wife, Wilma Madden Adkins of 23 years of Fairborn, Ohio, Pearlie Childers Grigsby of Jackson, KY, John Lacy Adkins of Flemingsburg, KY, David Lloyd (Stella) Adkins of Morehead, Ky, Glen Michael Adkins of Fairborn, Ohio. Grandchildren: Kameron, Tyler, Jake Adkins and 2 step grandchildren Alex and Savannah Halsey. Siblings: Iantha Sue (James Dale) Combs of Beavercreek, Ohio, Sally Grigsby Brown (Eddie), of Jackson, Ky. Niece, Cheri Lyn (Gary) Hill and their children, Kayla, Kassie & Colton, of Fairborn, Ohio. Jimmy Dean graduated from Jackson City School in 1965 in Jackson, Ky where he played as guard for his high school basketball team. He then moved to Dayton after graduation where he was employed by the Chrysler Corporation until 1973. He then moved back to Jackson Ky. where he worked in the coal industry until 1985. He became a manager of the Walmart in Jackson and then transferred to Fairborn, Ohio in 1990. He met and married Wilma Madden in 1991.He continued to work and support his family while attending ITT Technical Institute where he graduated in 1994.Jimmy Dean enjoyed spending his leisure time at Lake Waynoka with his family fishing and camping. He was an avid fisherman, and a lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky. He loved spending time with his family and friends but most importantly he was a loving husband and father and faithful friend. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, "Northridge Chapel," 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Pastor Jimmy Perkins, officiating. Interment Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the George C. Martin Funeral Home. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
