Anna E. Behler, 77, of Heritage Park, died December 13, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Anna was born in Bath, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in Elementary Education and from Widener University she received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. The vocational love of Anna's life was education. She was a public school teacher for 40 years retiring in 2003 at the age of 70. She taught at Heritage Elementary School for 35 of those years. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. She was a volunteer in the church office for several years after her retirement until she became ill. The real love of Anna's life was her family. She especially loved spending time with them at their beach home in Ocean City, Maryland.
She is survived by her husband, James Behler; her daughters Karen Kotula and Janice Shute and her husband Paul; her son Richard Behler and his wife Cheryl; her grandchildren Peter and Daniel Kotula, Chris, Samantha and Erik Shute and Matthew and Sarah Behler and her sister Marie Britton.
Funeral services will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 2800 Duncan Road, Wilmington, on Thursday morning December 17, at 11 am. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm. The interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4735 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
