Dennis REARDON Obituary

Dennis A. Reardon Attorney Dennis A. Reardon, age 67, passed away on Friday Dec. 5, 2003 at his home in Lewes, DE surrounded by his family. Born in Wilmington on Aug. 4, 1936, he graduated from Salesianum School in 1955 and University of Delaware in 1961. He went on to graduate from Catholic University School of Law in 1964 and was admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1965. In his 36 years of law practice, he was a dedicated public servant and skilled, private criminal-defense attorney. He served the state as Assistant City solicitor for Wilmington, staff attorney for the Community Legal Aid Society, assistant public defender and deputy attorney general. He was known as confident trial attorney who cut to the heart of the issue and used his sense of humor in the courtroom. In his private practice, he often let his clients barter for his services. Mr. Reardon was also an accomplished artist who worked in water colors and oils. He began painting in 1978 and recreated hundreds of scenes of lighthouses, boats, dunes and shorelines. After he retired from law in January 2001, he could be found on Second Street in Lewes in the Nichol Gonzon Gallery. Mr. Reardon also enjoyed all sports on levels. He never missed one of his grandchildren's games and supported many local athletes. He is survived by his former wife, Margaret R. Reardon; his children Robert Reardon and Nancy Millman; his daughter-in-law Robin Reardon; son-in-law Steve Millman; grandchildren Megan and Matthew Millman; his brothers Francis, Lawrence, and William Reardon; and his sisters Mary Delp and Margaret Fox. He was proceeded in death by his parents Francis and Mildred Reardon; and brother, Alfred. Friends may call from 6:30-9 pm, Friday Dec. 12 at the PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORIUM, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes. Services will be private. Contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
