Francis O'Connor Obituary

Francis T. O'Connor, Jr.

Francis T. O'Connor, Jr., passed away on March 2, 2012, at his home in Cary, North Carolina, after a long illness.

Franny was born in Wilmington and attended St. Ann's Parochial School and Wilmington High School. After graduating from Wilmington High, Franny joined the U.S. Army, serving with various military administration units in the United States and Korea, until he was honorably discharged as a Specialist E-5.

After leaving the service, Franny enrolled at the University of Delaware, where he received his under-graduate degree in Special Education. He went on to receive his Masters Degree (with Honors) in Special Education from Delaware State University. Franny spent many years as a Special Education teacher in the Cape Henlopen School District until he retired and relocated from Milton, DE, to North Carolina.

He was predeceased in death by his parents Francis T. O'Connor, Sr., and Mary C. (Gallagher) O'Connor. Franny is survived by his two brothers, Stephen F. O'Connor (Noreen) of Wilmington and Michael J. O'Connor (Sharon) of Westminster, Maryland.

Franny is also survived by his nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

Cremation services were held in North Carolina.
