Jean H. Sitko

AGE: 97 • Wilmington

Jean H. Sitko, age 97, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Seasons Hospice.

Mrs. Sitko was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Sophia (Ragan) and William Lesniczak. Jean operated her own beauty shop in Browntown for over 50 years, named Jean's Beauty Shop. She was a life member of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Sitko in 1990 and her two sisters and four brothers.

Jean is survived by her sons, Henry G. Sitko of Seattle, WA and Gerald L. Sitko of Cheshire, CT; her daughter, Eugenia Sparks of Lincoln, DE; her six grandchildren, Thomas Sparks, Jr., H. Gerald Sparks, Herbert Sparks, Stephen Sitko, Hank George Sitko and Kate Sitko; and her two great-granddaughters, Mallory Sparks and Emilia Sparks.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Newark Manor and Brandywine Nursing Home and especially Linda Santora, the hairdresser at Brandywine Nursing Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 9th at 11 AM at St. Hedwig's Church, Linden and South Harrison Streets, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Hedwig's Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE 19805. Mealeyfuneralhomes.com
