William Rimmer Obituary
Wilmington - April 3, 1965 - December 26, 2019
William Derek Rimmer, better known to his family and friends as Bill or Billy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Mary; and their two beautiful children, Chloë Nicole and Zachary Marshall.
Bill practiced law in Delaware for almost 30 years, having earned his JD from Widener University School of Law in 1991. He was a partner in the firm of Heckler & Frabizzio, earning an impressive number of honors and recognitions for his accomplishments in his area of practice.
He was also very active in the Delaware soccer community for over 30 years, tirelessly donating his time and energy as a coach, mentor and serving as president of DYSA. He was especially proud of his achievements in coaching many youth soccer teams to State Championship wins and followed many of his players as they went on to continue to achieve success in their future careers. Bill was celebrated as DYSA Competitive Coach of the Year several times for his generous commitment of time, support and inspiration to the Delaware soccer community and was honored as Regional Coach of the Year as well.
Those who were close to him will remember him for his determination and bravery, as well as his no quit attitude. He was passionate about everything he did and loved everyone around him. He was proud of all of his achievements both in his career and in his years of coaching, but he was overflowing with love and pride in his family. His stories and sports analogies were entertaining beyond measure and his laughter was contagious. He will forever be an inspiration and role model to all who knew him.
Bill touched the lives of so many and we only have to follow the smiles to trace the path that he walked in his all too short time here among us.
Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help further research for a cure.

Bill was one of the best people I've had the pleasure to know. Both professionally in the legal community and in the coaching community, Bill was unrelenting in his dedication and commitment. But what I will miss most is his friendship. No matter how much time went by, whenever Bill saw you he always had a smile, a welcome handshake and treated you like his best friend. A true gentleman and true friend.
