Eileen M. Maher

1957 - 2021

Eileen M. Maher, 63 of Glenolden, PA passed away on April 18, 2021. Eileen was the beloved daughter of Edward J. Maher and the late Joan M. Maher. Her siblings consisted of a loving sister, Joanne Hess (Curt) and three brothers, Kevin, Ned (Bernadette) and Marty (Cecelia). She was the proud Aunt of Kara Brigandi (Paul), Laura Masterson (Mike), Allie Stonaker (Kenny), Michael Hess, Mathew Maher, Amanda Maher, Jordan Maher and Katie Maher. She was also the proud Great Aunt of Sophia Brigandi, Lucas Brigandi and Olivia Masterson. She was especially thankful for the opportunity to serve as caretaker of Sophia from her birth until her recent birthday when she turned four. Sophia benefitted also from the teaching skills possessed by Eileen. Eileen graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School in 1975 and from West Chester University in 1979. She pursued a career in teaching elementary school children and earned a master’s degree. Her first teaching assignment was at Our Lady of Fatima grade school in Secane, PA. In the mid-eighties she joined the staff at Southeast Delco School District, teaching fifth graders there until her retirement in 2017. Eileen loved to teach. Eileen had a special love for dogs. Her parents always had a dog when she was growing up. After she had a place of her own, she was never without a cocker spaniel at her side. Her latest love was a dark brown spaniel named Reese. Reese will now have a home with Eileen’s sister Joanne. Eileen loved to spend vacations at the shore and the Poconos with the Hess family. Her brother-in-law Curt, Joanne’s husband, enjoyed her company and made sure that she was always part of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Saturday, April 24, 2021 9:30AM St. Dorothy’s Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30AM in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Due to the ongoing pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.
