Dorothy Pilkington Obituary

Dorothy A. Pilkington, 90, of Delaware, died Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 12, 2013) at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Columbus, to the late Homer L. and Jessie (Davis) Freeman. She was a retired clerk for F.R. Lazarus in downtown Columbus and served there for 31 years. Dorothy enjoyed horseback riding, cards, playing golf and bowling with her husband, Jim. Dorothy and Jim were inseparable and did everything together.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, James W. Pilkington, whom she married Oct. 26, 1942, in Greenup, Ky.; nieces, Jackie Zack of Delaware, Glenda Blake of Panama; nephew, Roger Sparks of South Carolina; special friend, Sue Workman of Delaware; and other nieces, nephews, friends.
She was preceded in death by brother, James Freeman; and a sister, Betty Jane Sparks.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Str. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery, Johnstown.
