Elizabeth Ellen Smith

Berlin-Elizabeth Ellen Smith, 87, of here, departed this life on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roger Gumby and Helen Henry Gumby. Her husband, William J. Smith, Sr., also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She will be lovingly remembered by: five daughters, Jane Elizabeth (Jerome) Wharton, Rev. Betty M. Smith, Ella M. (Norman) Briddell, all of Berlin, Priscilla A. Rounds of Salisbury, and Annette H. (Charles) Nesbitt of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Khalil ElAmin of Atlanta, GA and Eugene P. (Karen) Smith of Upper Marlboro; two sisters, Beatrice Quillen of Philadelphia and Geraldine Raynor of West Palm Bay, FL; one brother, Roger (Jeannette) Gumby, Jr. of Philadelphia; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Smith will lie in repose on Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 12 to 1 PM at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 405 Flower Street, Berlin. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Rev. Barbara Harmon will be the Officiating Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, Assateague Road, Berlin. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home, P.A. in Salisbury. Please visit www.lewisnwatsonfuneralhome.com to offer condolences to the family.
