Alvin Hamilton Obituary
Visitation will begin Monday morning October 12, 2015 at 10 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 11, with Johnny Roberts presiding. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, with Veterans Honors Accorded.
He was born July 27, 1931 and raised in Perry County, Arkansas to Felix and Aileen Hamilton. Alvin joined the Army at the age of 17 and served for 4 years, most of that in Germany with the 1st Division. He was in Berlin during the blockade and airlift operations. After leaving the Army he eventually settled in Morenci, Az. and began a 40 year career with Phelps Dodge in the copper mine. There he married Bennie Lou Dunsworth and just recently celebrated their 61st Anniversary. Retiring from PD they moved to Deming and enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping and working in the church until illness forced them to slow down.
Survivors include wife, Bennie Lou. Son Alvin Lloyd and Shin Hamilton; grandson, Andrew J. Hamilton and nieces and nephews living from coast to coast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Ollie Cole, son, James M. Hamilton; brother, Clarence Hamilton; sisters, Ola Mae Humphrey, Lou Ella Bull, Bonnie Daggs and Dovie Tanner.
