George Shaw Obituary
William
Penfield: September 13, 2014, age 89. Predeceased by his parents, Frank C. and Eleanor L. Shaw of Caledonia, NY, and his daughter, Barbara R. Shaw. He graduated from Yale University in the class of 1945W and served in the Navy. After finishing his military service, George graduated from Yale University Law School in 1949. He returned to Rochester to enter private practice, devoting his career to intellectual property law. George was a partner in Cumpston & Shaw for 43 years and served many years on Town of Penfield Zoning, Planning, and Historical Preservation Boards. George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Foote Shaw; four sons and daughters-in-law: G. William Shaw and Laura Inveen of Seattle, WA; Frank C. Shaw and A. Mary Kay of Lindsborg, KS; Thomas W. and Sandra C. Shaw of Atlanta, GA; and Brian B. and Marjorie H. Shaw of Rochester, NY; and six grandchildren: Hale and Reid, Colin and Aaron, Jackson and Kathryn.
Friends may call Saturday, Sept. 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A memorial service and interment will be at the convenience of the family. For those wishing to make a contribution in George's memory, please consider the Alzheimer's Association or the Landmark Society of Western New York. We were very sad to hear of your loss. George was such an interesting man and we enjoyed visiting with him and the family during our visits to Rochester. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Our deepest sympathy to Kay and the Shaw family.
