Alfred Young Jr.

1925 - 2010

Alfred Young Jr., of Merrimack, NH and formerly of E. Lyme, CT died Friday, December 10, 2010 at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born in Malden, MA on Jan. 8, 1925 a son of the late Alfred and Annie (Kidd) Young, Sr.

Mr. Young was a graduate of Everett (MA) High School and M.I.T with a degree in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture .

He was a US Navy veteran serving during W.W. II as machinist mate first class.

Before retirement, he was employed at Electric Boat in Groton, CT as a Nuclear Engineer.

Mr. Young loved boating. He was a former member of the Huntington Street Baptist Church, in CT where he served as a Church Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Gideons and a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashua.

He was so loved by his wife, daughters, sons in-laws, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Young is pre-deceased by a daughter, Deborah Young, and by three siblings, Jean Seaverns, Margaret Stewart, and Esther Jones.

Members of his family include his wife of 62 years, Shirley L. (Hotz) Young, of Merrimack, three daughters and sons in-laws, Jan & Bob Fast of Florida, Ruth & Dr. Aubrey Haschick, of Westford, MA, and Marcia & Stephen Draper of Nashua, five grandchildren, Michael Curtis, Jeanine Long, and Andrew Draper, Samuel and Sarah Draper, four great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are at the First Baptist Church, 121 Manchester St., Nashua, NH, Friday, from 9-10 AM. Funeral service will commence at 10 AM. Burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery, at 1:30 pm.
