Francis Jean Norris

87, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Sunrise Senior Living in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born on December 25, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa to Alvah Martin and Wilhelmina Amelia Pember. Jean lived in Des Moines until they moved to Denver, Colorado in 1938. She graduated from East High School in Denver, Colorado in 1945. She received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Denver. She taught English and Speech in the Aurora Public Schools until 1977, when she stayed at home full-time. Jean married Raymond William Norris on March 19, 1950 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were happily married for 54 years until his death in 2004. Jean was a member of P.E.O. and several Bridge groups. She enjoyed reading and collecting books, classical music, and traveling. Jean is survived by daughter Cynthia Kaye Norris Hijar of Colorado Springs, Colorado and John Pember Norris of Simi Valley, California. She is survived by grandchildren, Perfecto Hijar III (Lenora) of Alamosa, Colorado, Carissa Kaye Hijar of Ordway, Colorado, Devon Laughlin of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Melissa Horn of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is survived by grandchildren Constance, Xaviar, Annalise, and Amber of Alamosa, Colorado, Sadira, Jeremy, Gia, and Leighla of Ordway, Colorado, Gentry of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Summer and Hailey of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Raymond William Norris, and her son, Gerald Raymond Norris. A memorial service was held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 9203 S. University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, Colorado at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
