Jude Mason Obituary
11/18/1942 - 10/20/2021
Jude Mason - beloved husband, brother, father, uncle and friend - passed away in Denver. Jude was born to Jonas and Vivian Mason in Ville Platte, Louisiana.
He graduated from the College of Santa Fe and became a middle school teacher in New Mexico and later the first African American president of NEA-NM, the teacher's association. He then worked for the Colorado Education Association in the San Luis Valley and in Denver.
Delivering steady advocacy for teachers and support staff made Jude happy, as did fishing, cooking and Denver sports fandom. Whether making his famous salsa, playing his harmonica, or drawing smiles with his kind spirit, Jude infused positivity that lives on in generous acts of lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife Lynne, his brother Raymond, mother-in-law Bonnie, sisters-in-law Julia, Jill, Kim and Meliss, brothers-in-law Bryan and Chris, nephews Reg, Nicholas, Luke, Vince, Joe, Max and Jack, nieces Vivian, Raenada, Nikki and their families. His son James Mason, brother Lloyd and sister-in-law Clara preceded him in death.

My deepest condolences to the entire Mason family. Mr. Mason was my seventh grade science teacher over at DeVargas junior high school Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is absolutely one teacher that I have never forgotten and I am sure I am speaking for many others. Rest in peace Mr. Mason, we all love you!

Mr. Mason was my teacher at De Vargas Jr High. All these years later, I still remember his laugh and how fun he made our class. We always sang the Beetles song to him, "Hey Jude" My deepest condolences to his family. RIP Mr. M.
