I don´t know why Ibthought of Miles this week, but it led me here. He was the worst employer, and the best. He made me work late on Christmas Eve, because his daughter would not be there. He also gave me a week off and a large check when we won a case that we had spent months preparing the case. (So many trees sacrificed in the name of copies). He was kind. He was funny. He loved his daughter to the moon and back (see Christmas Eve reference). He was kind to me. He demanded excellence. He was a mentor. He was better than my employer, he was a friend. I will reach 70 this year. I am sad that he has pre-deceased me. Thank you, Mules for being the attorney, employer, mentor, fan, and jerk boss at the same time. Some of my best legal memories were with Miles and Luke. Rest in Peace.

Miles Gersh was my classmate at East High School, '61. I never had one conversation with him, and he might not remember my name. My memory of Miles, besides having a name no-one could ever forget, was primarily the laughter that could explode from a whole section of people in the lunchroom. Every time I was close enough to see Miles, he was playing it. I remember a boyish, smiling, and highly focused genius of comedy. Wish I had known him more than I did.

im late to condole. its been a rough year. but im always here...
i think about you.
every time i hear the word schmegege: your umbrella. i never knew a schmegege was a person; by you, it was always the umbrella that turned inside out in the wind and rain. remember? every other day... soaked. with an inverted schmegege. mr. attorney...
i miss you. your laughter, white gritted teeth. until next time...
love...

I just found out about Miles passing away. I knew him from running into him at the athletic club. Always friendly and funny.

When Judge Hoffman advised me to obtain more experienced class action counsel on one of my cases, I turned to Miles Gersh & Jim Helfrich, and have been delighted ever since. Many a court hearing would find Judge Hoffman hiding his laughter behind his hands, as Miles would start his evisceration of the opponent by saying "and I had to ask myself...", laughing at the absurdity of the law and the opponent's arguments. Seldom without a twinkle in his eye, Miles' formal front was a skimpy cover for his delight with the world and himself. Miles, I miss you.

My friend Miles
I just found out about Miles passing away and am so very sorry his loss. Miles was more than a former employer, over the last 16 years he became a close friend and mentor. He encouraged me and supported my dreams, and guided me into and through college, and even at times giving me some great career advice. When he was at my wedding a few years back, he told me how very proud of me he was, and it will always mean so much to me. I will miss his charming and beaming smile that lit up the room, his stories of his travels, especially the ones with Maris, and how when I spoke with him he would start off a sentence with "You know Joanna,...." I was honored to have known Miles. Rest in peace my friend, I will miss you. Joanna Bliahu-Robarge

I had the honor of getting to know Miles in connection with a case we worked together. My heart is so heavy to hear this news about such a pure and bright and good shining star. Surely the greatest blessing a daughter can ever have is a great father who unconditionally loves her. Anyone who ever crossed paths with Miles knew he was that kind of father. Miles had many gifts and passions, but Maris was his raison d'etre. I know he would move heaven and earth to spare you any suffering, even suffering in sorrow over this great loss. Blessings of comfort, healing, faith, peace, and grace to you and your family as you walk through this valley.

Miles taught me how to write. I simply would not have quit my job at age 50 to go to college without Miles. I've got a 3.77 GPA and graduate this December. My education has -- and continues -- to open the doors of life to me. And it would not have happened without him.
Thank you, Miles! You were a fabulous boss and a great mentor.

I worked with Miles in the early 80s as his legal secretary. He was one of the nicest, classiest men I've ever met. My sympathies to his family - I know he will be missed.

Maris and family - your father was a blessing in our lives and helped us fight a legal battle that no one else wanted to touch. He fought for us with strength, humor, dedication and tenacity. He made us laugh when he laughed at himself or got tickled with a strategy that he would come up with. Such a nice man - we were stunned to hear of his passing. We never got to have our final celebration with him. Peace to you and your family.
