CECIL STEWART Obituary

Cecil Monett Stewart was born September 16, 1949 in DeRidder, La., to the late Auther and Curlie Stewart. He was called to his heavenly home on July 22, 2014. He was united in marriage to Janice on Dec. 6, 1975 in California. They moved to DeRidder in 1976. To this union two sons were born.
Cecil worked for Boiuse Southern paper mill from 1976 until his retirement. Cecil was very active in the community and organized God's Enlisted Men in 2000. The goal of this organization was to better the quality of life for the youth and elderly of the community. He organized Community Development Networking Committee (CDNC) in 2008. Through this organization, he sponsored the Willie Brown Football Camp and the Johnny Jones/Dave Simmons Basketball Camp.
Cecil joined Sweet Home Baptist Church at an early age and later united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church. At Mt. Zion he served as a member of the Brotherhood and Usher Ministry until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Curlie Stewart. Those left to cherish his memories are: Janice, his wife of 38 years; two sons, Wayne (Fay) Sims of Baton Rouge, La.; Cecil Stewart, Jr. DeRidder, Special daughter, Qiana Chavis of DeRidder, Godson Eric Cooper Jr., two brothers: Ed (Pearl Taylor) Stewart of DeRidder and Arthur (Loretta) Stewart, Jr. of Idabel, Oklahoma; two sisters: Gloria Taylor and Dell M. Baily of DeRidder; one uncle Emmitt (Delores) Armstrong, Jr. of Houston, Texas; two aunts: Delorise Jones and Eddie (Calava) Ransom of DeRidder; four grandchildren: Justin (Great Pumpkin) Derouselle, Elijah Stewart, Wade Sims and Cecil Stewart III. Three special family friends: Dorothy Stewart, Susie Davis and Elmo Monroe. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 28, from 6-8 p.m. and services will be Tuesday, July 29, at 11 a.m., both at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Services were entrusted to Braxton Funeral Home in DeRidder. Interment will be at Beauregard Cemetery.
