Al passed away November 8, 2014 surrounded by family. He was born in SLC, Utah to Albert Frederick Haehnel and Olga Gertrude Huebner Haehnel. Graduated from South High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He met his wife, LaNae, after returning home and they married in 1949. He was employed by Safeway Bakery and Huish Distributing. He loved woodworking and shared his talent generously with family and friends. Improvements on his home were a "loving lifetime pursuit." He was always more concerned about others than himself-always generous and giving.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; sister, and grandson. He is survived by his loving wife, LaNae; son, Craig; daughter, Wendy (Mike) Tadlock; nephew, Ben Barnett; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, with viewings Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.

God bless you Uncle Al you were always a very nice man to me. You are united once again with Grandma and Grandpa Ketterer and my mother and father. Aunt LaNae and Wendy my heart goes out to both of you in this tragic time of your lives. May god bless you and be with you. I truly believe that Uncle Al is in a better place with the Lord and all of his children. I love you both!

Dear LaNae, Wendy and Craig, We will never forget Al and LaNae for their wonderful friendship and love. It has been an Honor and a treat to live near you for these last 24 years. We will miss Al. We snow shoveled together, visited many times with the kids, received your cookies, breads, jams and Al's handyman skills with much appreciation and gratitude. I know Al mowed the lawn every Monday. I knew when the green can should go out by looking for yours. Roy the cat was often times seen in our yard. We extend our deepest condolences. Al was a great man. LaNae a wonderful wife, and both wonderful neighbors
