Amy Struhs Obituary

1972 ~ 2014
Amy Sarah Zundel Struhs returned to her Heavenly Father on July 30, 2014 after a heroic battle with breast cancer.
Amy was born on September 11, 1972 in Pocatello, Idaho. Amy moved with her family to Salt Lake City, Utah where she excelled in academics and pursued her love for gymnastics as a cheerleader at Skyline High School. Amy graduated with honors from the University of Utah where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and a friend to all. It was there she met her true love, Tony Struhs and the two were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 8, 1995.
Always a child at heart, Amy loved sharing her testimony of the Savior with the primary children and Young Women where she served as an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Amy's remarkable inner and outer beauty was enhanced by her trademark modesty and gift for building others. We will truly miss her vibrant laugh and sense of humor that triumphed amidst any challenge. Amy was a person of strong character and always stood up for what she believed to be right. These qualities made her the most beloved daughter, sister, niece, friend, wife and mother.
Amy cherished her family above all and is survived by her husband Tony, children Sophia, Collin and Elizabeth; sister Jenni Marchant (John), brothers Jared Zundel (Stacey) and Jonathan Zundel (Alex); father Michael Zundel; in-laws Patrick and Sharon Struhs, Kelly Struhs (Heather), Dannielle Strush and Nicholas Strush (Sarah).
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Zundel.
Amy continuously expressed gratitude to her long-time doctor and friend, Dan Henry, Dr. Saundra Buys and her staff at Huntsman Cancer Institute, Dr. Josh Schiffman, her friends, family, church and community for their countless hours of loving service.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1300 South Wasatch Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may call Sunday August 3rd, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South and at the church Monday, 10:30 -11:30 a.m. preceding the funeral service. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawns.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amy Struhs Memorial Children's Fund at Wells Fargo Bank.

To your entire family...I am so sad to hear of Amy's passing. I was able to spend three wonderful years as "pre -school mommies" with her. What a fantastic smile, energy and ease with others she possessed. She was so down to earth in every conversation. I especially am grateful for our spontaneous meet-ups at at the grocery store where we would end up chatting for an hour. She helped me with stories of her experiences raising kids (Sophie and Collin are the same ages as my two). Amy exuded pure love for her kids and it was a beautiful thing to witness. May your hearts be full with the love she gave you. I am grateful just to have known her. Prayers and light to you all.

I don't have a story per say, but I do want her kids to know that you couldn't help but be happy around Amy. She always had a big--and very beautiful-- smile. Amy was truly a unique woman, always genuinely concerned for others.
I'm a better person for having known her and I will always remember to live my life as Amy did... with grace, compassion and, of course, a smile.

A woman never to be forgotten!

I barely knew Amy. Our kids took a few lessons together before I moved. She was so friendly and vibrant. Since then, she has lived in my parent's ward and they love her and her family so much. She has touched so many people. Praying for her children and husband.

I had the privilege of knowing Amy through her children's preshool. From the first day I met her she made an impact. When she would call the school I would always know it was her even before she identified herself. She had such a lively spirit and spunk. I sincerely love Amy and I am a better person for having known her. She was an inspiration and I am sure she has had a sweet reunion with our loving Heavenly Father. May her family find comfort in the knowledge that they will be together again... I love you Amy! ~ Janie Berry

I'm so sorry to hear of Amy's passing. I was her dad, Mike's secretary for years and had the opportunity to be around Amy on several occasions. We were close to the same age and I always loved her authenticity and passion for life. I can only imagine the void in your lives. Jenni, Jon, and Jared, please know I hold your family in a special place in my heart. Your mom was a great example of what kind of mom I wanted and still try to be. I can only hope now, that you will all feel her and Amy both, close by, comforting you as you go through this. I will keep you all in my prayers. Sincere condolences.
