Angela Roberts Obituary

Angela Yashko Roberts

1951 ~ 2022

American Fork, UT-Angela Yashko Roberts passed away on December 21, 2022 at home in American Fork, Utah.

Angela was born November 8, 1951 in Berkeley, California to Paul and Ruth Evans Yashko. While growing up, she lived in Silver Spring, MD; Provo, UT; Boulder, CO; Bellevue, WA; Cocoa, FL and Cedar Rapids, IA. A bright student, Angela skipped her senior year of high school to attend Brigham Young University where she studied history. She also attended Wright State University in Fairborn, OH. She met William (Bill) Roberts, and they were married in Columbia, SC on October 3, 1972. They were later sealed in the LDS Oakland Temple.

Later, Bill and Angela settled in Utah where she taught at American Heritage School prior to the birth of her children. Angela spent the following years raising her children - encouraging them to be dedicated students and ensuring they had opportunities to pursue their varied interests. She also spent time providing in-home childcare as a docent at the Church History Museum, substitute teaching and volunteering in her childrens' classrooms and in various church callings. She later returned to work doing office work at APS, where she remained for close to twenty years. A lover of life-long learning, Angela sought out any opportunity to expand her knowledge, and was relied upon by many as a calming presence able to help navigate challenges with ease.

She is survived by her husband Bill; children Caroline Moncur, Nikolai Roberts, and John Roberts; grandchildren Alex Moncur and Sidney Roberts; siblings Nancy Strode, Paula Davis and Gregory Yashko. Preceded in death by her infant son Paul, stillborn twins, her parents and sister Sonya Vancil.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 6th at the American Fork 3rd Ward chapel - 165 N 350 W. Viewings will be held on January 5th from 6-8 PM at Anderson & Sons Mortuary - 49 E 100 N, American Fork and on January 6th one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Dear Bill and family, I've often wondered about how your lives went and am very sorry you've lost her. She was so sweet and caring and I'll never forget how she always made me feel good about myself, just as you did. I'm so happy that you were both able to have the family you so wanted.

We are so sorry to hear of Angela's death. I didn't see a notice on this until into January. I'm very sorry we didn't know about this sooner. We have known Bill and Angela for many years. They have always been the kindest and most dependable people. Angela would come with Bill when he came to 'home teach' our family. Again, we are so sorry for your loss and pray that her family can find peace and comfort during this very difficult time.
