Douglas Lindley

1923 - 2015

Douglas James Lindley passed away peacefully Friday, May 8th, 2015 in Walnut Creek, CA, with his daughters Kay and Annette at his side.
He was born August 19th, 1923, to Myrtle Alice Feeney and William John Lindley, in Clear Creek, Utah. He grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from South High School. In WWII, he served in the 99th Infantry Division, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and crossing the Rhine at Remagen. He married Mildred June Barker on September 2, 1948. They raised their family of 4 daughters in Salt Lake City and Orinda, California. In his professional life, he graduated from the University of Utah in accounting and had a 35-year career with Standard Oil and Chevron Chemical in Salt Lake City and San Francisco. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many capacities, including 5 years of service with Laotian immigrants, and 22 years of service at the Oakland temple as a sealer.
Survived by daughters Kay (and John) Merrell, of Vienna, VA; Dianne (and Stevan) Nielsen, of Orem, UT; and Annette (and Mike) Linney, of Orinda, CA; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Susan; sisters Wanda Hurt and Betty Dunn; and grandsons Christopher and Thomas Nielsen. He looked forward to and has now accomplished a glorious reunion with them.
Services were held on Thursday, May 14th at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. funeral at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3776 Via Granada, Moraga, CA.
