Elliot Airmet Obituary

Elliot Seaton Airmet 1915 ~ 2009 Elliot Seaton Airmet, 94, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1958, died peacefully of age-related incidences on Dec. 28, 2009.He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah September 7, 1915 to Elliot S. Airmet Sr. and Amanda Olsen. He married Norma Grover on November 7, 1941 one month before Pearl Harbor. Elliot is survived by his wife, Norma, of 68 years and four children, Barb Jacob (Bob Carlson) of Albuquerque; Beverly Randall (Stan) of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Douglas (Donelle) of Pocatello, Idaho; and Wayne (Katherine) of Layton, Utah. They have 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Bette Jones of Auburn, CA and many nieces and nephews. Elliot graduated from the University of Utah in 1939, and received an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1958. In September of 1941, he graduated in the first class of aeronautical engineers in the US Army Air Corps. He served his country faithfully until he retired in 1961 as a Lt Colonel in the Air Force. He then worked for Sandia Laboratories until he retired in 1978. He was always busy working at something--reroofing the house, gardening, bowling and playing golf with his buddies. He was an excellent woodworker, carpenter, and ski-boat captain. Elliot is remembered by his kindness and gentleness, the twinkle in his eye and his quiet sense of humor. He was a firm believer in education, and proud of the fact that all of his children and grandchildren (so far) have graduated from college. Cremation has taken place. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held in early summer. In lieu of flowers, you may send contributions to the Cosmopolitan Woman's Club Scholarship Fund, 5216 Westwind NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 or the charity of your choice.
