Gladys Benson Briggs

Gladys Benson Briggs 1/31/1918 - 7/5/2007 Gladys Benson Briggs, daughter of Dora Louise Wall and George Milton Benson, was born, January 31, 1918, in Manila, Utah. She attended high school at South Jordan High in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart, Leland Richard (Dick) Briggs on February 14, 1940 in Manila, Utah. Marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. She lived most of her adult life south of Dillon, Montana where her husband was in ranching. Her dream came true when they returned to her Utah roots and settled in Orem, Utah in 1986 where she passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, July 5, 2007. She lived each day for her sweet companion (Dick), her children, Boyd (Diane) Briggs, Dillon, Montana; Dicksy (Bob) Rhoads, Provo; Robin (Danny) Olsen, Orem; and Teena (Jim) Ploeger, Gilbert, Arizona; her seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grand children who were her most cherished and treasured joy. She left behind a great legacy for her family. Survivors also include her brothers, Homer Dean Benson, Provo; Karl G. Benson, American Fork; and a sister, Jacquetta (Jackee) Benson Haslam, Logan. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Reed and Clay Benson, and a sister Helen Tanner. She was an extremely compassionate lady and spent many years serving her family, community, and church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved picnics and camping, cooking, reading, dancing and family parties. Her cute sense of humor, positive attitude and faithful prayers will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Lakeview Stake Center, 400 West 1800 South, Orem, Utah. Viewing will be on Tuesday, July 10 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for family and friends at the Walker Sanderson Mortuary, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah.
