Grant Beutler Obituary

Grant Canfield Beutler

September 8, 1930 ~

February 28, 2023

Born in Ogden, UT to Eden Winn Beutler and Stella Canfield Beutler. Grant's sisters were Carol May Weeks (deceased), Lynne Tupper (deceased) and Mary Ann Freeby. He married LaDella Murdock (deceased) on November 26, 1952 in the Logan Temple. They were married for 55 years. He later married Nina Leishman Johnston on December 30, 2008. They were married for 14 years. Grant was blessed with 6 children: Winn Murdock, Becky Petrey, Kellie (deceased), Leslie Abbott, Matthew Grant, and Carrie Morgan; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Grant worked primarily for United Airlines during his career. He was an avid reader and could converse on any subject. He was a ski instructor at Winter Park Resort in Colorado, and was elated to find out one could ski for free in Utah upon turning 80. Grant took his children and grandchildren on multiple backpacking trips in the Wind River Range, WY. He loved biking and on his 80th birthday he biked 50 miles with friends and family.

Grant served in many leadership positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including five bishoprics and three missions. A highlight for him was serving as Bishop of the Denver First Ward. He was a missionary in the Northern States Mission, and fulfilled two humanitarian services missions in Salt Lake City and Frankfurt, Germany.

Grant will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know him.

Grant's Service will be Friday, March 10, at 2:00 pm at Leavitt Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT. Interment at Aultorest Memorial Park, at the same address.

Bishop Beutler was Bishop and a friend to my Grandparents (Charles and Grace Bodley)in Denver 1st Ward. My grandfather died young, leaving widow, my grandmother, who spoke highly of him. Sincere sympathy to the family.
